Weather Update November 25th 2024

Apologies but we are regretfully having to cancel the remaining classes at the studio tonight (Monday 25th November 2024 8pm)

If your son/daughter is currently attending classes please make your way to the studio to collect them.

We apologise for the short notice but we feel this is the correct decision at this point in time having assessed the current situation.

Summer School '24

On the hottest week of the year so far we held our Summer School - it was a scorcher!

The five day long course consisted of classes in Classical Ballet & Repertoire, Jazz, Musical Theatre Rep, Singing, Commercial Jazz & Rock 'n' Roll. All classes were taken by an amazing faculty of teachers currently training or working in the industry.

It was hot, busy & a whole lot of fun. The students have gained so much from the week, many of which have learnt genres of dance they have never tried before. On the final day we had a presentation of work for the parents & were super impressed by how much everyone had learnt & retained.

Thank you to our amazing guest teachers for inspiring our students & working them so hard & a huge well done to all who took part this week, you did so well!

End of Term Trophy Winners 2024

On Sunday 21st July we held our annual End of Term Presentation where all students were recognised for their achievements throughout the academic year.

We were treated to two performances from our performance team dancers who opened & closed the event for us with their cabaret numbers 'Another Day of Sun' & 'Mayhem at the Bell'. Additionally a selection of our choreography competition winners performed their winning dances & this years leavers showcased their dancing talents for a final time.

Exam certificates from the academic year were presented along with our school cups & shields being awarded to students who had particularly progressed, worked hard & impressed us throughout the year.

As always it was a lovely end to the dancing year!

Performing at The Oxford New Theatre

On Sunday 17th March we took 37 of our dancers to perform at The Oxford New Theatre in The Scott's Performing Arts Showcase.

We opened the second act with our new dance 'Mayhem at the Bell' which was a fun, exciting & energetic routine showcasing the variety of dance styles we offer.

The piece was an enormous success & not only was the dance well received by the audience but the production team had huge praise for it also. Our dancers were congratulated for their professionalism, manners & ability. We were extremely proud of everyone who was involved & for their efforts in making it a great success.

We are delighted to have been given the opportunity to perform again in next years showcase.

Well done to everyone involved!

Mayhem at the Bell

Rehearsals are well underway for our upcoming performance at The New Theatre Oxford on Sunday 17th March.

We are delighted to have been chosen to open the second act of Scott's Performing Arts Showcase with our new dance 'Mayhem at the Bell'

With 39 dancers involved aged between 8 and 18 and a variety of dance styles included we hope it is going to be a crowd pleaser.

Tickets are available directly from the Oxford New Theatre so please come and support us and enjoy all the other routines from local dance schools that are performing.

Choreography Competition

On Sunday 19th November we held our in-house Choreography Competition at the studio. This is one of our favourite events in the school calendar which is open for all dancers studying Primary and above in any genre. It provides a great opportunity to encourage dancing in front of a small audience, where each competitor gets to dance to their own choice of music, create and wear their own choice of costume and make up their own dance (with a little help form Mum’s, Dad’s and siblings!)

We invited former pupil Natalia (Taz) Hoesli to adjudicate and she offered wonderful feedback and advice to all students who took part.

We were really impressed by the hard work and creativity that was on display and thoroughly enjoyed our mornings entertainment of solos, duets and group performances. Medals will be handed out at our end of term presentation in July.

Well done everyone!

Scott's
Showcase

We are delighted to be performing again next year at The Oxford New Theatre on Sunday 17th March as part of the Scott’s Showcase. Following our success back in March of this year where we were chosen to open the entire show with our cabaret number ‘The Sparkling Diamond’ we are very excited to have been given the opportunity to take part again in the new year. Watch this space for more details!

Associate
News

Congratulations to middle school student Florence who started associate classes with London Senior Ballet in September having successfully auditioned earlier in the year.

Senior dancers Anna and Yordana continue at London Studio Centre (LSC) Associates on Saturdays, both now in the senior section after Yordana was moved up this term.

Middle school dancer Indi attended a workshop back in Easter with ‘Perform Like a Pro’ where she was awarded a scholarship for their intensive summer course and then offered a place on their associate programme which she started in September. Indi also continues at London Studio Centre (LSC) Associates where she moved up to Mids this term.

End of Term Trophy Winners 2023

At the end of each dancing year we award trophies at our end of term presentation where students are recognised for their hard work and achievement throughout the dancing year. Awards vary from progression, dedication and enthusiasm to artistry, performance and style. These trophies provide incentive for all students throughout the school to work towards and for their hard work to be recognised.
